What was the legacy of the war for north korea and south korea?

The Korean War left some legacies to the two newly formed countries on the peninsula, North Korea and South Korea. One of the legacies was the political system. North Korea had as its legacy the communism, while South Korea had the democracy. North Korea's economic legacy was a command economy, while South Korea's economic legacy was a market economy. Both countries shared the same legacy when it comes to being heavily damaged and destroyed after the war, and both countries had a legacy of only approximately half of the peninsula, instead of being united as one country as they were for thousands of years.
