The post war goals of the United States focused more on making new alliances and establishing as many military bases in other countries of the world as much as possible. They also aim to undermine governments with a democratic streak, attempting to overthrow them.

On the other hand, the post war goals of the USSR or Soviet Union focuses on the renewing and reconstructing their countries. They also aimed to make the living conditions better for the Russian citizens as well as form new alliances with other countries.

The things which characterize the different post-war goals of the United States and the Soviet Union would be that the Unied states wanted help rebuild the western parts of Europe, while the Soviet Union wanted to exert as much control over Eastern Europe as possible.
