Why were the imperialistic attitudes of the european nations called "social darwinism? " darwinism is about the survival of the fittest - and european nations believed they must colonize or be colonized - that the strongest would win out. because darwin wrote about it and said europeans had to colonize other nations for their own good, since they were superior african nations needed leadership, and it was the europeans role as the social leaders to assist them in their movements for peace and independence.
