What is one way government changed in athens during the golden age? all citizens were declared equal, and men and women took part in government equally as a result. all citizens were declared equal, but women could take part in government only on a limited basis. the number of paid officials decreased, which allowed only wealthy citizens to hold government offices. the number of paid officials increased, which was beneficial to the lower class citizens who served in office.
