When the articals of confederation was passed, the states were given more power than the national government. why did this happen?

Undue powers given to the states to select the members of Congress. Articles of confederation had many weaknesses. Congress had right to sign treaties but no right to refurbish any law which required the approval all 13 colonies and no right to impose taxes on the states.

Stes were given all powers of dominance and many nations feared that this articles of Confederation would lead to Monarchy.

Congress remained weak to standardise trade and there was no national law court. Congress cannot enforce any law but states were given authority to enforce law and regulate trade.
