How did french attitude toward native americans differ from that found in the native colonies

The Spanish generally treated Native American people cruelly, using them as slave labor. The French treated the Native Americans better, trading with them and working with them in more equal relationships.

The Spanish, on the other hand, sought riches and conversions more forcibly and on a larger scale than the French; this would lead to much mistreatment of native peoples.
