What was the major factor that caused the colonies to eventually insist on freedom of religion?
group of answer choices

religions was not so much of an issue with the colonists. they just didn't like england telling them what to do.

the colonists saw the tremendous potential for the acquisition of non-taxed funds that could be drawn from church activity. they wanted to keep this money themselves instead of sending it to the british monarcy.

puritans and pilgrims in massachusetts, quakers in pennsylvania, and catholics in maryland represented the growing religious diversity in the colonies. as a result, many different faiths coexisted in the colonies. this variety caused the colonies to insist on freedom of religion. the british opposed this freedom and this was a major source of frustration that eventually led to rebellion during the american revolution.

the colonists believed in jesus christ and the monarchy did not. therefore the colonies rebelled against england.
