The treaty of paris of 1783 ended the war for independence.  The war granted the the U.S political freedom.  A preliminary treaty between Britain and the United States.  had been signed in 1782 but the official treaty was signed in September 3rd, 1783.

the us hoped to prevent any nations from leaning towards soviet union-based communism. the containment policy was established in hopes of keeping communism from spreading to new places.
