List the events and issues that led to the writing of the declaration of independence

When the first fights of the Revolutionary War broke out in Massachusetts during April in 1775, only a few people in the 13 American colonies wanted to separate completely from Great Britain; however, as the war continued on and on, and Britain brought out huge armed forces to enforce its will, more and more colonists decided that having their own independence was the only way forward.
