Thanks to this climate, in Greece, farming is possible without artificial irrigation. This, of course, had a huge impact - this is difference of Greece from the civilization of the Ancient East, where collective efforts and, accordingly, centralized power were necessary for the construction of irrigation canals and relational systems, and in Greece it was not necessary: it was enough winter rains, all crops were winter. The rivers did not matter much in the life of the Greeks, since they were small.

In the Greek world and on its periphery, there were deposits of precious metals - silver and gold. Silver was in Attica and in the north of Greece, in Khalkidhiki. In Thrace, present-day Bulgaria, there were gold deposits, and an natural mixture of particles (grains of gold and silver) was mined in the rivers of Asia Minor.
