        since the civil war was a battle fought by americans, it has the highest casualties of any war ever in the history of the u.s.   the battle was between confederates who wanted slavery. and the union who were abolitionists. an abolitionist is someone who wants to get rid of slavery. if you think about it if the confederates won there would be a lot more racism today. there might still be segregated bathrooms or water fountains. there are some union monuments in northern states. there are even confederate monuments in the southern states . one of them is in alabama (no surprise there).
