Which describes a significant difference between the north and the south in the years leading up to the civil war?

First off, the south was very adamant about keeping their slaves, and the northerners want to abolish slavery because of "every mans inalienable rights as a human being". There were some people who disliked slavery down south, but they were either killed or paid to agree with the common crowd. The northerner's wanted to abolish slavery.
