In several ways the 1920s was the age of contradictions.

The 1920s was a period of wonderful advancements in culture and economy and hence the period is referred as the roaring 20s. It was the post war era and the US was economically flourishing during this period. Women’s rights were fairly addressed during this period.  

Several industries like the film industry and automobile industry flourished. Jazz music came into being and this age is also called the jazz age. But in spite of all this, the age was one of contradictions.

It was the period of prohibition whereby production and sale of liquor was banned in the US. Ku Klux Klan emerged as a prohibition enforcing body but was actually launching an anti-catholic propaganda.  

Immigrants from southern and Eastern Europe were targeted which led to violent clashes and fights.
