They were free from paying taxes because they were paying their services to the parishioners and spiritual care and relaxation to the local citizens. They were receiving respect and importance to the people as they were acting as the mediator between man and god.

They had the great influence on the king. They were of governor of the churches and had all the control on the activities of the churches. They were the spiritual leader and leader of the churches.
