Early 19th Century- Women were commonly homemakers before the World War I. They took the roles of a mother, cook and a wife. People also relied on them to take care of children for it was common to have big families during those times. If they ever had jobs, it was becoming a lowly servant of a rich or noble family.

Late 19th Century- Since the World War I broke out, many men were sent abroad to fight. This left the women to fill in the shoes of their husbands. They started working and took the roles of a nurse who takes care of those wounded in the war or factory workers.
