Explain the environmental effects of various networks of exchange in afro- eurasia from c.1200 to c.1450

The various networks of exchange (especially the Silk Road and Slave Trade) brought many environmental effects during c.1200 to c.1450 in Afro-Eurasian relationships.

There was a cultural diffusion of diseases, animals, and crops. This cultural diffusion also brought increased trade along the trade routes.

New towns and kingdoms developed during this period with growth in population and devastating impacts on the environment. People got exposed to new forms of religion and cultural practices that challenged the environment adversely.

Some of the networks of exchange enriched old cultures, while some destroyed the old cultures, and others supplanted the old with new cultures. The period also created the opportunity for studying and understanding foreign languages.

Thus, it was a mixed bag of the good and the bad that the networks of exchange in Afro-Eurasia brought on the environment.
