This devastating natural disaster caused catastrophic damage in New Orleans, Louisiana, Mississippi, and many other surrounding areas. It traumatically affected both American's and the U.S.'s economy by causing a total of 1,833 fatalities and $125 billion dollars. Flooding was perhaps the most destructive force concerning this storm other than high winds which led to cataclysmic damage.
