With its origin in North America, the Amerindian peoples called Cherokee are one of the tribes of the native nation called Iroquois. At the time of the American Revolution, also known as the United States War of Independence (1776–1783), several Cherokee Indians left for other counties, leaving their homelands because of violations of previously signed territory pacts.
