Compare and contrast the health belief model and the transtheoretical model. a.health belief model: a classical theory about making changes that was developed by psychologist i. rosenstock in 1966. in this model, there are five things that our beliefs must indicate in order for change to actually happen. those five things are: perceived seriousness of the health problem, perceived susceptibility to the health problem, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, and cues to action. this model is followed daily and guides most decisions. the more someone feels they are at risk,
caitlin hustonthe more likely they are to change their behavior and make healthier decisions. b.the transtheoretical model is also a model of behavior change, but this one was developed by two scientists named prochaska and diclemente. this model has 6 stages, but they are not necessarily followed in sequence. these stages are: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance, and termination. some stages may overlap, some people may move back and forth between the stages, and others may swiftly follow them in order. each stage is another step towards making a behavioral change.
