Romeo Montecchi is the protagonist of William Shakespeare’s tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. The name Romeo became a household name for a young man in love, as well as a symbol of unhappy love. Romeo first appears in the play in the first scene of the first act, shortly after a short battle between the servants of Montecchi and Capulet on Verona Street.
