It was the nation's safety net and is still majorly used today by elderly people who are able to reach the age of 65+.

The Housing Act was also established to use government subsidies and putting them into local housing. Giving people a place to live and get them off the streets. It made rent and mortgages more affordable for people who did not have enough money at the time and is majorly used by many families who are in hard times.
