It ended with the Treaty  of Ghent of December 1814 signed in Belgium that restored the antebellum boundaries as all conquests had to be returned. Nevertheless, the accord failed to address two issues that had led the US to war: the violation of American vessels neutrality and the imprisonment of US sailors by the British Navy. Nevetheless, the 1812 fostered a sense of national pride and conciousness.
