What happened to the nationlists after the civil war

They fled to Formosa now known as Taiwan. They became the Nationalist China and were recognised by the international community as the legitimate Chinese state for example at the Olympics and in the UN until relations between China and the USA were re-established from the early 1970's onwards.

the triple alliance. germany and austria-hungary were already allies by 1879 when, worried about a threat from russia, they formed the dual alliance. italy joined the group in 1882. there was a concern about a possible attack from france and the alliance needed powerful friends to defend it.
