Explanation:

The two wars in the mid 19th century involving British government and the Qing empire of China due to the forced trade of opium upon china is known as opium war.

The First Opium War lasted form 1839 to 1842 and Second Opium war from  1856 till 1860. Both the wars helped to impose treaties  having favourable terms for the Britain on the Qing dynasty.

The first Opium war ended with Treaty of Nanking, it was first treaty between China and foreign powers. China ceded various smaller island along with Hong Kong to Britain and also established five treaty ports. Britain also received a reparation of 21 million dollars.  

The Second Opium war ended with Treaty of Tientsin in June 1858.  this treaty forced the chines to pay reparations. It also legalised the opium trade, open ten ten new ports for commercial activities with Europe and allowed the foreign missionaries and traders to travel in China.
