The indepence movements arise at a moment when the former empires have lost its over-all control of their colonies because of internal conflicts and economic downfall. This of course is not the only factor but it sure has been one of the most important ones. After Napoleon invaded Spain in the beginning of the 19th century the once  so powerful Iberian empire was completely lost and divided. It was the moment for people like Simon Bolivar to try their luck.

the civil rights movement brought about tremendous changes. no longer were blacks denied the right to vote, to eat, shop, and swim where they , and more importantly, to attend integrated schools. despite its many accomplishments, however, the civil rights movement had its shortcomings. for example, many people, both young and old, lost their lives, homes, jobs, and families. still other individuals were so damaged by psychological trauma that they ceased being productive members of the community. the movement left intact the economic inequities that had contributed to the maintenance of segregation. and finally, racism remained alive and well long after the movement's end. like most movements of its kind, the civil rights movement left behind a mixed legacy of triumph and tragedy.

choose clothes and shoes designed for your type of exercise. replace shoes every six months as cushioning wears out.

for strength training, good form is essential. initially use no weight, or very light weights, when learning the exercises. never sacrifice good form by hurrying to finish reps or sets, or struggling to lift heavier weights.

exercising vigorously in hot, humid conditions can lead to serious overheating and dehydration. slow your pace when the temperature rises above 70°f. on days when the thermometer is expected to reach 80°f, exercise during cooler morning or evening hours or at an air-conditioned gym. watch for signs of overheating, such as headache, dizziness, nausea, faintness, cramps, or palpitations.

dress properly for cold-weather workouts to avoid hypothermia. depending on the temperature, wear layers you can peel off as you warm up. don't forget gloves.
