The main subject is in wide view in such paintings and all the other elements are arranged in a logical composition, weather is an important element of landscape painting and sky is always included in the view.  

The two main traditions of landscape painting emerge from Chinese art and western painting.  The spiritual element has always been present in Asian paintings but in western landscape paintings it started to dominate during Romanticism.
