How did the Spanish and French differ in their treatment of American Indians?

The French accepted American Indians as trading partners, they were ready to marry American Indian women, lived with them, traded with them, but did not attempt to make Frenchmen out of them while the Spanish enslaved American Indians and they are put into programs of cultural conversion at big haciendas and monestaries.

The Spanish attempted to replace the American indian culture and make-over the American indians into cultural copies of Spainiards. In other word, Spain conquered and converted them while France coexisted with them.
