Mental Health Reform
In the mid-1800s, the mentally ill were often put into and treated like criminals. They were sometimes beaten and abused. Dorothea Dix campaigned and lobbied for mental health reforms. This resulted in reforms. The state governments established dozens of in the country.

then once you find a topic you like find out how it affected the people of america and what not. (sorry if this feels a bit short changed, history was and never will be one of my strong topics)
