Odyssey means a long wandering or voyage usually marked by many changes of fortune. In Homer´s classic the hero, Odysseus spends 20 years travelling, learning a great deal about himself and the world. The reason why we like to verify the truthfulness of the story (geographically, historically etc.) is because we can link it to our own journey of life that has the same ups and downs. This is acknowledged and merchandised by Hollywood who likes to sell us stories based on true events.
