The French Revolution was a period of time in France when the people overthrew the monarchy and took control of the government.    The French Revolution lasted 10 years from 1789 to 1799. It began on July 14, 1789 when revolutionaries stormed a prison called the Bastille.Napoleon Bonaparte was a military leader who allied himself with the Jacobins during the French Revolution. In 1799, Napoleon put an end to the French Revolution when he overthrew the Directory and established the French Consulate. The September Massacres of 1792 was shocking  the most infamous and horrific event during the French Revolution.  five days, mobs of revolutionaries slaughtered more than 1,200 people. The majority of victims were prisoners, though many were priests and nuns.
