As the Bolsheviks took control of the Soviet economy, they:

(i) took land from peasants and gave it to members of the upper class.
(ii) determined which jobs workers would hold and where workers would live.
(iii) shipped grain and other food products from the cities to peasants.
(iv) allowed businesses to decide prices and let workers set wages.
