A U.S. domestic issue that can be viewed as the most serious is Gun Control. The debate on whether or not there should be more restrictions to the purchasing and carrying of firearms has created somewhat of a divide on modern America. For example, in January of this year, there was a huge protest outside of the Virginia capital where protesters brandished weapons and signs protesting the gun control bills set to pass. Protests like this become incredibly violent causing a state of emergency to be called. Tensions caused by this issue alone can and will cause riots and death.

A foreign affairs issue that is the most serious is the existence and spread of communism. Since the World Wars, the world has been fighting communism, whether it be with war or with legal contracts such as Truman's Doctrine vowing that the U.S. would aid in the resisting of the spread of Communism. Tensions caused by Communism threaten the very existence of man in causes as the Cold War between Russia and the United States. The threat of nuclear annihilation is thrown around very frequently between the two parties capable of it. And now with Donald Trumps investment with foreign affairs with North Korea's leader it has added to the tension as some believe it is wrong to befriend the communists and others believe it is the right thing to do.
