NAFTA had its pros and cons, but I think it helped Texas. NAFTA created about 5.4 million jobs. It also lowered prices. U.S. imports from Mexico cost less because NAFTA got rid of tariffs. Low cost oil reduces gas prices, which reduces transportations cost. Overall, I think that trade agreements like NAFTA most likely helped Texas.
