Describe the location of Rome

Rome is situated in the central part of the Italian peninsula, some 15 miles (24 km) inland from the Tyrrhenian Sea on the River Tiber. Rome's location on the Italian peninsula, and the Tiber River, provided access to trade routes on the Mediterranean Sea. As the empire continued to expand.
