Japan attacked the U.S. at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Japan attacked the U.S. because they wanted to take control of the Pacific Coast. President Truman did not seek to destroy Japanese culture or their people, he wanted to stop Japan's ability to make war, so President Truman decided to drop a bomb on Hiroshima. The Japanese strategy was to expand, capture oil, and destroy the U.S. Pacific fleet, examples of some of these strategic battles were The Attack on Pearl Harbor, Battle of Suixian–Zaoyang, 1st Battle of Changsha, Battle of Kunlun Pass and the Battle of Zaoyi. The U.S. partially bombed Japan for Pearl Harbor, but they mostly did it because of Japans global expansion. Japan had the one best fighter planes of its time, including one called Shinano.
