It's citizens were prospering due to an expanding economy stimulated by wartime production. There were many reasons for the rapid growth of the American economy following World war II. Another reason for the rapid economic growth after World war II was the increase in American purchasing goods on credit. New products, many developed from wartime inventions, filled the marketplaces and tempted the American consumer.
