During World War II, many women started working outside their homes due to many men had to leave their occupations to serve their country. These men left many empty places in jobs, and many women were offered these opportunities. They started working in factories, offices, and aircraft industry, in which most of the workers were women. Nonetheless, their wages were still lower compared to what men earned.  Once the war ended, the women were fired, and this experience served to increase the number of working women decades later.
