Define – Republic and what was James Madison role in creating a Republic in America?

James Madison,  "The Father of the Constitution," presented a proposal that would vastly increase the power of the national government and give most power to the most populous states. His Virginia Plan provided for proportional representation in the House and Senate based on a state's population.
