The cause of the Great Depression in the United States was the stock market crash. There was also an overproduction of goods that were underconsumed (they weren't bought as much as they were being produced). Those causes contributed to the Great Depression because it bought many problems like unemployment, poverty, many people were struggling to buy food (starvation), there was race and gender inequality everywhere as well. Because of these problems, Americans started to help each other and formed organizations to help with the Great Depression.
