¿La relación entre los romanos y la globalización?

Recordarán la escena de La vida de Brian (1979) en la que la insurgencia judía, agrupada en frentes de liberación con el mismo objetivo y casi idéntico nombre pero con diferencias insalvables entre sí, debatía sobre lo que los romanos había hecho por Judea, para acabar descubriendo que “solo” habían traído el acueducto, el alcantarillado, las carreteras, la educación, la seguridad ciudadana y la paz.Algo parecido nos pasa con la globalización. Y no solo con la romana, que por suerte no pasó de largo (¿se imaginan que fuéramos todavía celtas o íberos?), sino de todas las demás. Pongan a las mil y pico organizaciones de variopinto nombre que convocan manifestaciones día sí y día no contra el TTIP con EE UU o el Tratado CETA con Canadá a debatir sobre qué nos ha traído la globalización y verán que España es uno de los países que más se ha beneficiado de ella.

Porque es gracias a ese odiado FMI y su ayuda con el plan de estabilización de 1959 que España pudo superar el shock económico de la Guerra Civil, dejar atrás la autarquía, abrirse al mundo y conocer un periodo de desarrollo económico sin igual (de hecho, España convergió más con Europa entre 1959 y 1973 que en los 20 años que siguieron a la adhesión a la UE en 1986).

2- was bradbury correct in his literal interpretation of  “where they burn books, they will also ultimately burn people.”? in some way, yes. when knowledge is not only limited, but also controlled, the people tied to it are led to their demise. just like in the novel, people in nazi germany who owned  subversive books were punished not only by the burning of their property, but also by the discrimination that followed after such a public form of consequence. if a person was seen being confiscated  subversive  books, they may be considered as an ally to the jews, which meant pretty much the same as being the enemy back then. because of the extreme exclusion and suffering that followed this punishment, it's almost like dying a slow death.

in this way, the phrase  “where they burn books, they will also ultimately burn people.” is both literal and figurative.
