Why did disease become a problem for Louisiana’s historic tribes? Diseases became more dangerous for everyone in the 1600s and 1700s. Climate change killed off the herbs that had been used to treat diseases. During trades, they came into contact with other tribes that carried diseases. They had no immunity to diseases brought by European explorers and settlers.
