As one of the founding fathers of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson's idea of "equal and exact justice for men" was expressed throughout the entirety of the Declaration of Independence. During his presidency, Thomas Jefferson was able to establish "peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations" with the purchase of the Lousiana Territory. Sold for 15 million by France, Thomas Jefferson was able to effectively double the size of the United States, while constructing good trade relations with foreign countries. Also, with the acquirement of the Lousiana Purchase, Thomas Jefferson unlocked new possibilities for trade and "commerce" since he was given territory up to the Pacific Ocean.
