Before the creation of the global map, people were not sure about a way to travel to another countries. The global map started to gradually created during the age of discovery in 15th century.

At that time, European empire provided funds for explorers to travel through the sea and find a path to another country for 2 main purposes:

- Find a new continent where they can acquire resources

- Find another country that they can contact to establish trading relationship with.

But, some of the kings in the European empire were religious. So, many of them provided funds for explorers to find a way to another countries so Christian missionaries could reach them and spread Christianity.
