The colonists had enough of multiple things that Britain did. First was Britain's taxing, because they taxed the colonists without getting the colonists' approval first. This is what's called, "Taxation without representation." Another big factor was the passing of the Intolerable Acts. They were meant to punish Massachusetts for the Boston Tea Party, however they did more harm than good. They took many rights including self-governance, a right that Massachusetts became extremely outraged about. Britain thought that the other colonies would support the British, however after the passing of the Intolerable Acts, all of the 13 colonies became outraged. The first the colonists wanted peace with Britain, which was why they drafted the Olive Branch Petition and sent it to the King of England hoping for a truce. However, King George rejected it, and instead wanted to send soldiers to quell the rebellions happening. This cause major outrage among the colonists, which caused the colonists to push for independence.
