What was the main difference between French and Spanish Explorers?

One major difference between the two is that the Spanish colonies were much more intensively settled and a much more developed economy was created there than in French colonies. French colonies were sparsely settled and were used mainly as ways to trade with the Indians for furs.

The second , larger puritan colony of massachusetts bay was conceived as a "city upon a hill". but it also struggled with internal turmoil like the salem witch trials and external conflicts like king philip's (metacom's) war.
