Why do many historians believe that world war i finally led to the passage of the women's suffrage amendment (19th)?

Historians believe that WW1 lead to the passages of the 19th amendment because of the role that women needed to fill when the men were gone made women realize that they could do the same amount of work as men. This lead to the idea of women's suffrage indirectly.
