They believed that life on Earth and life after death with the gods were linked. They performed rituals and used magical spells as part of their religion. They believed that if they made offerings to the gods, they would have a favorable life. They would ask the priests to help them with spells and with actual healing and medicine. They also believed that magic was involved in reaching the afterlife, so they had to prepare. Certain prayers had to be said, and specific actions had to be done, or a soul could be lost on the way to achieving life after death.
