A trader from venice who spent years visiting China. He traveled on the silk road with his family, and learned many languages on the way. When he arrived at Kublai Khan's palace he was sent on gov't missions and he served Khan for 17 years. When Polo was back in Italy he was captured during a war and told his jail mate, who was a writer, of his travels. At first many people did not believe Polo, but most of his descriptions were accurate as seen by historians today.
