DIRECTIONS
DATA COLLECTION
-Conduct the experiment designed in the previous project.
Take detailed notes during each step of the experimental procedure. Record your observations, concerns, mistakes, or problems. Be sure to write down anything unexpected. This will help during the data analysis step. It is a good idea to record all your data in a notebook. It may also help to create a data table for any measurements. Be sure your measurements are careful and accurate.
DATA ANALYSIS
-CAREFULLY REVIEW YOUR DATA.
Use charts, graphs, and pictures to summarize your results. Make any mathematical calculations, if necessary, and create a statistical analysis. What were the average results? What was the highest/lowest result? Include median, mode, and range analysis if appropriate.
-DEVELOP A CONCLUSION BASED ON YOUR DATA ANALYSIS.
Remember, a conclusion describes the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable. Summarize your experimental results in a few sentences. Use the summary to support your conclusion. Be sure to state whether your results prove or disprove your hypothesis. Do not worry if your hypothesis is proven false. Sometimes scientists learn more from wrong answers than from right ones.
COMMUNICATION
-COMMUNICATE YOUR RESULTS TO ANOTHER PERSON.
Present your experiment to a friend, family member, or classmate.
