Why does the constitution create Limited executive powers?

When the Constitution was drafted, the founders were concerned that the federal government were creating something would become tyrannical. Having lived through the experience of being ruled by a Royal government far away, they did not want to create a new, distant federal government which would not be responsive to the people or the states.So their solution to the problem was to limit the power of the new Federal government. The Congress was limited in the types of laws it could pass. The Executive was not allowed to create new laws on their own. The states were supposed to handle a lot of the work, because they were closer to their populations and were thus more responsive via the ballot box to the needs of the state’s inhabitants.
